Battle Creek Church (Battle Creek, MI)
Kansas City Stained Glass partnered with Battle Creek Church in Michigan to execute one of the most ambitious stained glass installations in our portfolio—a massive LED-backlit window designed to appear as though natural sunlight is streaming through a traditional stained glass opening. The church wanted a breathtaking focal point behind the altar but could not modify the 100-year-old brick structure. Our solution involved creating a 30-foot-wide, 17-foot-tall illuminated stained glass wall weighing more than 1,000 pounds, supported by a custom-engineered steel frame. Working with a religious artist, we translated a beloved oil painting into stained glass, carefully developing lead lines, selecting glass colors, and applying layered kiln-fired paint to capture the depth and emotion of the original artwork. The final installation, nearly 200 square feet of luminous color and sacred imagery, completely transformed the sanctuary—combining modern LED technology with historic craftsmanship to create a radiant, spiritually powerful centerpiece.
